Found out that GQ  had launched their new ladies nights on Wednesdays, with unlimited drinks 6-10pm and 50% off everything in their ala carte menu. Did someone say, unlimited? 😉 I’m in!

Got the girls together afterwork last week and as always, we have a good time over food and a few drinks 😉

Thoughts?

Food

It’s probably the best time to try out everything in their menu. We went crazy…. tried 6 different sushi rolls – and c’mon for half the price that’s about 30AED for 6 pieces of delicious freshly made sushi. Tempura shrimp, California roll with king crab, BBQ eel and avocado, Soft shell crab…mmm 🙂 I recommend their spicy prawn spring rolls, from their starters menu. We ordered 3 trays of these, we could have had more!

One of the girls had lamb shank, which was apparently tasty but had a huge chunk of fat in it, possibly a quarter the size of the meal. A bit of a boo-boo, however the chef was nice enough to prepare a selection of tasters to compensate for it afterwards which I’m sure the girls were quite happy about 😉

We destroyed their desserts when it came, it was that good. I suggest you go with a large group so you can try everything!

Drinks

You get red, white, beer, mixers (anything! vodka, rum, gin, whiskey-based). And for the good girls they’ll prep you mocktails and juices as well. I was quite impressed that bottled Evian came complimentary. That’s how odd Dubai is ha ha, sometimes you go to ladies night and drinks are free, but you ask them for water and they charge you. Not GQ though!

Service

The lovely lovely Georgian staff was all sweet and smiles, and took care of us well 🙂 In general I felt that our drinks could have  been topped up a little faster as there were possibly only 2 other tables occupied in the whole restaurant.

There was another waitress , extremely rude. She served us last, not too sure what her deal was, just the way she looked at us when we asked her for another drink. Attitude, sigh.

Overall

For what you get, the deal is extremely worth it 😉 Great to get the girls together afterwork. The mains are twice the price of what you get in Pool Bar, so if you want to keep it cheap, just order a selection of sushi, starters and dessert and I assure you you’ll be good 🙂

Although both Pool Bar and GQ are doing a similar deal for ladies night, you get a completely different ambience. Go check both out! Control yourself though, 4 hours of bottomless drinks on a schoolnight can get a bit..dangerous!
