Yum Cha @ The China Club, Radisson Blu Deira Creek

With mummy in town, it was perfect timing to go for yum cha, as this was something we did probably every weekend with family and friends back home.

GPS switched on, we found the Radisson Blu next to the creek over the bridge after a wee bit of a drive (and getting lost ;)). We were then directed to The China Club at the far end of the hotel, a simple chinese restaurant – packed at 1:30pm on a Friday afternoon.

The yum cha deal was 99AED for all you can eat, including a selection of steamed and fried dim sums, soups, rice/noodles and dessert. Let’s see how it is 🙂

Honest take, from a family who loves yum cha.

We loved the – har gaus (prawn dumpling) – pastry was thin enough, prawns were fresh, chicken siew mais were small but tasty, diced octopus was a nice surprise – delicious, chicken char siew paos in comparison to what we were used to, was way too small with very little meat inside but tasty just the same.

My favourite was what we call ‘chao sao su’ in mandarin, known in english as ‘baked diced chicken in puff pastry’. Pastry was perfect, overall tasty, almost just as good as that from home. The other selection of fried dim sums were somewhat too oily, just get some tissue to gently press out the oil and you’ll get delicious red bean paste sesame balls and deep fried bananas 😉

The rice and noodles selection, as well as the soups, were probably below par when we were there. Szechuan hot and sour chicken soup felt more like vinegar added to hot water instead of a proper chicken soup, aww. That, or we’ve just had a lot better. G makes better fried rice as well so we’re weren’t too big a  fan of what their ‘yang chow wok fried rice’ had to offer (sorry guys!)

That aside, loved that they had chilled coconut cream and sago pearls for dessert. I personally liked the green tea pudding 😉

As an overall, pleasant yum cha with the family 🙂 Bit of a drive to Deira from where we’re at, so if we lived closer to that side of town we’ll probably be going more often! If you’re a fan of dim sums, give it a try.

We’ll carry on our conquest to try out the rest of yum chas in Dubai 🙂 Hopefully one that can includes pork? *hopeful*

Dubai resident. Stays most of the time in the marina as she can't be bothered going anywhere else after work and in the weekends. Originally from the land of the orang utans, spent the latter half of her life in the land down under. Always on the look out for deals, loves organising get-togethers, and occasionally steals some time for a sip of wine or four at ladies nights.

  1. Looks delicious and 99AED sounds like a really good deal:) Dim sum is one of those things I really, really want to like, but until now, Ithe only dim sum I truly enjoy is xiao long bao (more specifically, xiao long bao from Din Tai Fung).
