I’m gonna try and let the photos do more of the talking, mainly because a) it does and b) I’m lazy (again) – hehe!

Of all the random hotels we stayed in over our Eid break, Hotel Altstadt was our favourite-st 🙂

For those who hasn’t been to Salzburg – go! It’s such a beautiful little town. Sing along to Sound of Music in Mirabell gardens, cross the bridge and you’re at Old Historical Town scattered with cobbled-stone pathways and interesting little shops.

Book in with Radisson Blu if you don’t know where to stay. We were really lucky to have been upgraded to the suite on the 5th floor and ah, it was so nice 🙂

Hotel Altstadt is a 25 minutes cruisy walk from the Salzburg Hauptbahnhof. You probably could catch a cab, but it really is a nice walk as you could cut through the Mirabell Gardens. Just make sure you’ve got the map downloaded onto your smartphone and turn on your GPS (you don’t need data), and you’ll find your way there very easily 🙂

We had booked through booking.com. No breakfast though, unfortunately. There’s lot of nice cafes within walking distance so no worries there. Mozart apparently used to spend time at Cafe Tomaselli which is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. We checked out Cafe Bazar, across the bridge. It was alright 🙂

Our suite was so nice we wanted to just spend the whole time indoors – aw 🙂 It was a nice contrast, having been in a not-too-super room in Vienna. Little things like having complimentary fruit, wi-fi, water, coffee, hotel slippers. Basic things that you get when you stay in hotels in Dubai but not necessarily in Europe!

Thanks again to the staff – Kristina and Jessica – who helped us with lots of random requests – checking train times, what to do, where to go – we’ll definitely come back to stay there when we re-visit Salzburg 🙂

Tip – Take the Westbahn if you’re travelling locally within Austria. It’s much cheaper than the OBB. When we were looking at prices from Vienna – Salzburg, it was about 49 Euros PP on the OBB. With the Westbahn it was 25 Euros and you can pay on the train, and you know what’s the best bit? There’s complimentary wi-fi throughout the entire train ride!
