The Terrace @ Media Rotana

Not too much to say. Not too much to say when you come home sticky and you’re glad your apartment’s fully air-conditioned. Haha. It’s nothing to do with the bar, it’s just the bloody Dubai “spring” going on summer weather 🙁 So again, my apologies to The Terrace because this review is super biased. Had we went by two months earlier I’ll write a 5 paragraph-long review.

Again, lousy photographs with my cellphone because we both left our cameras at home, yet again. Terrible, I know.

To be fair, the place is actually quite nice. Located on the first floor of Media Rotana in Tecom, it’s an outdoor bar adjacent to the hotel pool. There’re lazy couches for those who want to do a bit of shisha and chill, high bar-stools/tables, and blue-lit up benches around the bar centrepiece. They play lounge music which is perfect for this sort of bar, great for those who want to just sit around and chit chat and a break from the usual duf duf house music.

You get four drinks on Monday nights. I don’t know if it’s the same every week but tonight we got 4 cosmo’s. Or, pink-ish, drinks. Sorta feel like ribena with a very slight hint of alcohol. In all honesty I didn’t feel like there was any alcohol. I guess I’m just comparing to the cosmo’s they served at Blends on Friday 🙂

So, hmm. I’ll say, I’m definitely not going back here for the next 3 months because humidity/heat even at 9-10pm at night is not my preference. But, it is a very nice outdoor poolside bar for catching up with friends, having a nice drink, for the cooler months in Dubai 🙂

Dubai resident. Stays most of the time in the marina as she can't be bothered going anywhere else after work and in the weekends. Originally from the land of the orang utans, spent the latter half of her life in the land down under. Always on the look out for deals, loves organising get-togethers, and occasionally steals some time for a sip of wine or four at ladies nights.

  1. I went here a few weeks ago, again, was ok. They are very stingy on the drinks, although myself and the missus were abusing the “all-you-can-drink” a bit! The staff were disappointingly rude though. How did you find them? Annoyingly they didn’t accept Rotana Rewards either!

    1. Lol. Found the ladies night ad in Timeout magazine! Did you guys go there for brunch, hence the “all you can drink” part of it?

  2. Found an even better list for ya here!

Every Saturday, Shawarma and free-flowing Heineken for AED 68
Sundays are for Cheese and free-flowing Wine for AED 68
On Mondays, Fiesta Mexicana and free-flowing Margaritas for AED 68
Every Tuesday, Aperitivo and free-flowing Cocktails for AED 68
Wednesdays are made for Asian Delights and free-flowing Asahi for AED 68
Thursdays are all about Antipasta and free-flowing Prosecco for AED 98
On Fridays, Tiki Bites and free-flowing Mai Tais for AED 98

    1. Hmm are you secretly a Media Rotana personnel? Haha!
Thanks for that, we didn’t know of those deals ay. Pretty good value for money, but hmm we’ll probably go back when the temperature starts dropping…which is in a few months…

      1. Good plan! It’s right behind where I work, so I’m a regular there that’s why! Dunno if you know about it, but one of my favourite places that not many people know about for a cheap drink is the Ibis on SZR. From 6-8 everyday it’s 10 AED for spirits and mixers and 15 AED for pints of beer. BARGAIN! Going there for my birthday on the 31st 🙂

  3. What, 15AED for pints of beer? My partner will like that. And we thought all beer costs at least 30AED here! We’ll def check that place out next time, thanks for the tip
