La Demoiselle Ladies Night @ La Residence, Raffles Hotel

Lots of new ladies nights launching around town, and R had suggested that we check out the one next to our workplace, credits to Shortlist’s recommendations here 🙂

So off we went last night to La Residence in Raffles Hotel – 5 girls, one table, topped with good food, great cocktails, and a pianist with a gorgeous voice, singing to a soulful version of Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy and more.

It’s a classier type of ladies nights – one that  you can either go straight from work, or put a little bit more effort with a pretty dress and lipstick. Either way you’ll fit right in.

The drinks are good – you can opt for wine ( red, white, rose’ ), or La Residence’s special cocktail selections, or spirits with mixers. With four tokens each, we must’ve tried all the drinks on the ladies night menu. My favourite of the four, was the lemon meringue cocktail. Close your eyes and you’ll think you’ll having the dessert itself – not too sour, not too sweet, just right. Concoction of gin, limoncello, lemon marmalade and vanilla essence.

With a michelin starred chef Frederic Vardon leading the team, I can assure you that you’re in for a culinary treat at La Residence. Amongst us, we share two appetisers, five mains and……. six desserts, hee hee.

My favourites were the prawn ravioli with wilted greens, summer vegetables, and, quite surprisingly one of the more simple dishes on the menu – the macaroni cheese old vintage comte with summer truffle ragoit. The latter is supposedly one of La Residence’s signature dishes, which explains it all 😉

5 of the 6 desserts we shared, Valrhona Chocolate Square, Crepe Suzette, French Toast, Baba with spicy lemon yuzu, and a Raspberry and Lime Meringue

Highlight for us was probably the dessert. The winner, that you must try, is the souffle. I didn’t even get the chance to take a photo of it because it was completely destroyed by  us girls when it got to the table.

Second prize goes to the classic french toast, with salted caramel ice cream. Oh this was delicious.

Full house on a Wednesday night 😉

We stayed until around 10pm or so, and it was full house by then. I would go back again, and sit closer to the pianist this time so I can properly appreciate how good she sounds 🙂 A bit gutted that my phone is still stuffed so I couldn’t take any proper videos – time to get it fixed!

So there’s my two cents. One I do recommend. A more ‘civilized’, posh, ladies night. They’re currently offering 50% off the bill till end of August so go back there with a mixed group if you wish to dine. Tell me what you think about the souffle. Don’t tell me you didn’t order it 😉

Dubai resident. Stays most of the time in the marina as she can't be bothered going anywhere else after work and in the weekends. Originally from the land of the orang utans, spent the latter half of her life in the land down under. Always on the look out for deals, loves organising get-togethers, and occasionally steals some time for a sip of wine or four at ladies nights.
