Dedicated to the star staff of the night, put your hands together for, the one and only, Augustine! 🙂
So I had planned for a night at Umai last night, but unfortunately after confirming the numbers by Wednesday, I rang only to find that it had been fully booked. Aw 🙁
Bit of stressing out and then I remembered Channels which we had gone to few weeks back and had a great night out. With the Entertainer, it’s fairly cheap for an all you can eat and drink evening brunch. This is how it works –
- AED 265* – Inclusive of unlimited standard selected beverages
- With the entertainer, they deduct
140AED195 AED (cost of non-alcoholic package – Updated May 2015) - Works out to be
195AED167.50 AED per person
To be honest the food is just okay, if you like salmon sashimi, simple sushi selections, dim sums (har gau, chicken paos, dumplings), and mains like lamb biryani and peking duck. It’s not extravagant, but it’s enough 🙂
The highlight is that it’s easy to get to without the nightmare Marina traffic, it being in Tecom. The service was way beyond exceptional last night. I almost thought Augustine was just standing next to us all night because our glasses was continuously topped up. We never lifted a finger, ever. It was pretty impressive because Channels was a full house last night. The last time we went there I didn’t remember service being that good though, maybe Augustine wasn’t on duty? 😀
Now, the crowd. It’s popular with the Brits, it being next to Nelson’s and the BBC as well. So you get a pretty loud bunch of drunk people by 10pm, hehe. So if you like that, go for it. Definitely not a bring-to-impress-first-date spot 😀 More so for groups of friends wanting expecting a fun night out without breaking the bank.
Think this is gonna be our back-up Thursday night-out spot going forward. See you again soon Augustine!
